Local Chapters

Now in our third year, Giving What We Can has ten established chapters in the USA, Britain and Australia, with several more chapters to be set up shortly. Each local chapter brings together like-minded people who are interested in working to promote the goals of Giving What We Can. The chapters focus on spreading the belief that global poverty is one of the most important problems in the world today through talks and discussions which are open to the public, as well as social events. Furthermore, the chapters advocate our interest in giving to the most cost-effective charities combating poverty in the developing world. So far we have:

You can read more about the launch of GWWC Birmingham from its founder, Simon Jenkins, on our blog!►
There is also a society at Harvard University called High Impact Philanthropy, which promotes ideas similar to ours.
We also have plans to launch chapters in St Andrew's (Scotland), Edinburgh (Scotland), Atlantic College (Wales), Belfast (Northern Ireland), Madrid (Spain), Geneva (Switzerland), New York (USA), Brown (USA), Melbourne (Australia) and São Paulo (Brazil)!
If you would like to join one of these local groups or launch your own (you don't have to be a member — just interested in promoting the ideas of giving more and giving effectively), then please let us know.
