The Giving What We Can Donor Lottery is a novel way to donate. Instead of contributing directly to a specific high-impact charity or grantmaking fund, you can allocate your donation to a Donor Lottery Fund. One donor (the “winner”) will be randomly selected to work with our team of effective giving experts to recommend grants to projects with high-impact potential.
Your chance of being selected (“winning the Donor Lottery”) is proportional to the size of your donation (e.g. if the pot was worth $100,000 and you entered with a $1,000 donation then you would have a 1% chance of “winning”).
We typically organise the Donor Lottery to coincide with the December Giving Season. Past participants have helped advise on pots of up to $2 million.
