Sjir Hoeijmakers

Sjir is the interim CEO at Giving What We Can. Sjir also led the research team at Giving What We Can. Prior to joining the team, he was a Senior Researcher at Founders Pledge, covering topics ranging from women's empowerment to subjective well-being to the optimal timing of giving. Before that, he supported Dutch municipalities in setting up experiments with elements of a universal basic income, crowdfunding his own income to do this in the public interest. Sjir is also a cofounder and board member of Effective Altruism Netherlands and founding member of the management committee of the Patient Philanthropy Fund. He holds a master’s degree in operations research (cum laude) from Tilburg University.
