Sjir Hoeijmakers

Sjir is the CEO of Giving What We Can as of November 2024. He joined the team in August 2022 as Director of Research, setting up GWWC's impact evaluation and evaluating evaluators workstreams. Prior to that, he was a Senior Researcher at Founders Pledge covering topics ranging from women's empowerment to subjective well-being to the optimal timing of giving. Before that, he supported Dutch municipalities in setting up experiments with elements of a universal basic income, crowdfunding his own income to do this in the public interest. Sjir is also a cofounder and board member of Effective Altruism Netherlands and founding member of the management committee of the Patient Philanthropy Fund.
