Hello posters, tweeters, and people who unironically call it “X.” Welcome to the Terminally Online EA 2024 Giving Season Fundraiser! Whether you’re a memelord, a forum poster, an insect welfare cost-benefit analyst, or an associate professor at Oxford, this fundraiser has something for you!
Just like last year, we wanted to use the holiday season to lean into one of the things the EA community does best: raising money for organizations effectively addressing the world’s most pressing problems. But unlike last year, Matt has finally gotten around to actually reading the copy of Moral Uncertainty he asked his parents for. Our cause prioritization debates have only gotten more intense thanks to this newfound knowledge, but one thing we continue to be confident in is that improving the wellbeing of millions of farmed animals is a highly cost-effective way of doing good. As a result, we've decided to again give the proceeds of the fundraiser to the EA Funds Animal Welfare Fund, which has been recommended as a top-rated evaluator based on GWWC’s research for the last two years.
We hope you’ll join us in supporting this year’s fundraiser to show that EA continues to not just be about the shitposts, but also about making a tangible difference in the world.
For anyone who needs further motivation (and mostly just for fun) here are some incentives:
Animal Welfare Fund
The Animal Welfare Fund aims to improve the wellbeing of nonhuman animals by making grants that focus on one or more best-in-class opportunities.
