The Long-Term Future Fund (LTFF) aims to positively influence the long-term trajectory of civilisation by making grants that address global catastrophic risks, especially potential risks from advanced artificial intelligence and pandemics. In addition, the Fund seeks to promote, implement, and advocate for longtermist ideas, and to otherwise increase the likelihood that future generations will flourish.
Fund managers at the LTFF recently shared what marginal grants would look like at different funding thresholds — what projects would get funded if the LTFF raised $100,000, $1M, $5M, etc. They also invited Forum users to ask them anything, and you can explore the answers they gave.
You can see more Forum discussions related to the LTFF here, and more information (like highlighted grants and FAQs) on their website.
This fundraiser was set up as part of the EA Forum Donation Election event, but it’s a normal fundraiser: donations to this fundraiser will be designated for Long-Term Future Fund, not for the Donation Election Fund or anything else.
Please also note that donating to this fundraiser does not count as a vote for the Long-Term Future Fund in the Donation Election (see more about how the Election works here.)
The Forum Team (or the Online Team at the Centre for Effective Altruism) runs the EA Forum, the EA Newsletter, and the EA Forum Digest, and works on some other projects. Find them on the EA Forum.
