About GWWC

Giving What We Can (GWWC) is on a mission to create a world in which giving effectively and significantly is a cultural norm. Founded in 2009, GWWC is best known for its 🔸10% Pledge, where nearly 10,000 people have committed to donating at least 10% of their lifetime income to highly effective charities. To date, GWWC pledgers have donated hundreds of millions of dollars to high-impact charities, and we’re looking to scale the impact of our community further over the coming years.

In addition, GWWC operates a donation platform to facilitate raising funds for effective projects of other organizations, acts as a grantmaker distributing donations to impactful projects, and conducts and distributes research on effective giving to guide donors' decisions.

The GWWC team is hardworking, mission-focused, and ambitious, with a culture of open and honest feedback. We also like to think of ourselves as a particularly friendly and optimistic bunch.

About the role

Giving What We Can (GWWC) is at an exciting juncture, having recently established independent entities after spinning out from our previous fiscal sponsor and now looking to scale our organization and impact. We are looking for an Operations Associate to help ensure smooth operations across our organization. This role will provide comprehensive operational support across multiple workstreams, playing a crucial part in GWWC's continued growth.

This role will work closely with and report to Zou Xinyi, the Operations Manager at Giving What We Can. We are primarily seeking someone who is ready and willing to roll up their sleeves and tackle any task at hand. This role also offers exceptional opportunities for growth within the organization, spanning both operational and executive functions.

This is a remote role. While we have a slight preference for US- or UK-based candidates due to occasional on-site tasks and timezone overlap, the candidate's fit and calibre matter most. We welcome applications from talented individuals anywhere in the world (visa sponsorship may be available) and are open to candidates with a range of backgrounds.

Responsibilities

As our Operations Associate, you'll assist and execute crucial day-to-day operations while helping scale GWWC's impact through efficient processes and systems. You'll ensure smooth operational workflows across the organization and our independent entities.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing and executing operational projects such as the Giving Games program, welcome pack distribution for new pledgers, and others
  • Supporting grantmaking operations through first-line communication with supported programs
  • Overseeing and maintaining comprehensive operational documentation, such as grant agreements, to ensure accuracy and compliance
  • Coordinating with external vendors and service providers
  • Executing and tracking routine operational processes, such as onboarding new team members, organizing team retreats, and other key processes
  • Supporting the broader GWWC team with operational needs as they arise

About you

If you enjoy managing and executing operational processes, organizing systems and working across multiple workstreams, we believe you would be a great fit for our growing team

The ideal candidate will embody our community and team values, bringing passion for effective giving and a strong alignment with our mission. Beyond that foundation, we’re looking for someone who:

  • Is proactive and solutions-oriented, with a knack for identifying operational gaps and implementing systematic improvements to address them
  • Demonstrates exceptional organization and attention to detail, able to juggle multiple workstreams while maintaining quality and meeting deadlines
  • Communicates with empathy and clarity, building strong relationships while being comfortable giving constructive feedback when needed
  • Shows tech-savvy adaptability, with experience using (or eagerness to learn) operational tools and systems to increase team efficiency
  • Ideally has at least 1 year of relevant operational or project management experience, though this isn’t required

We value each member's unique contribution to our team, recognizing that no one person will embody all these elements. If you're passionate about our mission, resonate with our values, and believe you can contribute in these dimensions, we encourage you to apply!

We're a small team and care deeply about our culture, which balances supportiveness with high standards and ambition. We want you to succeed in your career and will actively support your professional growth.
