Skilled Volunteer Role: PR Support

Position Title: PR Support Volunteer

Location: Remote

Commitment: 5-10 hours per month (flexible)

Role Overview:

We are seeking an experienced PR professional to support our marketing team on a volunteer/pro-bono basis. We are currently looking to increase the amount of media coverage we’re getting, but the current team has limited capacity to do media outreach. The marketing team can also contribute 5-10 hours a month to PR, so the volunteer will be supported in this role and gain input and feedback.

Who should apply:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Developing pitches: Coming up with angles for media coverage that utilise our key messages and advocates and that will resonate with target audiences
  • Media Outreach: Identifying and reaching out to media outlets, podcasts, journalists, and influencers to secure coverage for Giving What We Can.
  • Press Releases: Drafting and distributing press releases, ensuring they are compelling, accurate, and aligned with our mission.
  • Media Monitoring: Tracking and reporting on media coverage of Giving What We Can and relevant topics in the effective giving and philanthropy space.

Skills:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in public relations, media and communications.
  • Ability to work independently, with input from our team.
  • Passion for the mission of Giving What We Can.
